Well its Saturday morning, woopee, came to some conclusions and some decisions last night. Not going to pursue my needs for a nursing career, instead going to shoot for something a bit more attainable. Thinking of monitor or human resources, considering digging through the catalog for the college, or actually going over there. Well, coffee and cardio awaits...........

Well its been a few days since I've come on. Going over weight loss goals and just kickin back and breathing. I've had my heart set on becoming a nurse but am realizing its just not in the cards.....
My age is a big factor, there seems to be alot of hoops to jump through that people of a lesser age can perform better than me. I've been gung ho about it for quite a while but when it gets right down to it, Thats 4-5 years and 20-25k down the road where as there are other medical occupations that I can crawl into that will benefit people also. Well, I have cardio to do after that long day off. Need to start losing some serious cellulite................

Well, I have not been here in a few days. Life been knocking at the door and I'm been preoccupied. Been trying to get up yo see dad here and there. Still alot of procrastination in here. I'm going to bump up my work-outs and take down the college catalog later on to see what I can get in trouble with. I can boast and bragg all I want to about college but until I actually dig in, its all just talk.

Woke up at 4:30a after going to bed at 10p, hopefully I will keep that tradition up. I didn't take a motrin before goign to bed last night and I could feel the difference in the morning. Although I did mock in at 289, which is a far cry form 292! No more 9pm hotdogs with cheddar.Going to do 60-90 of bike this morning seeings that I did treadmill yesterday morning. Trying to keep the workout as fresh as possible so that I don't get use to them. Not going to do oatmeal first thing as I've done for the past few days althought he idea of hardboiled eggs comes to mind or simply see if I can microwave them, without the mess...More later.

I haven't been here that much, busy with some procrastination and some workouts. My attitude is postive to what I can accomplish. I keep pushing in the right direction to see how far I can go, and quite frankly I keep amazing myself. I'm breaking barriers I didn't know I had. Right now my goal is to weigh in Monday morning at 289, that will put me at 2% in the new years comp. I'm trying for a % a week. I will try to add to this later on if time permits.......
Well its later, I had a good day, lots of water, hopefully I'll have good weigh in in the morning. I'll keep you updated...

January 21st Friday~
Well, it seems to be another week pissed in the breeze. I'll only be here on the wifes works and not on her days off. I spend to much time here and really get nothing done besides!
I Cut down on my cardio on her days off, the scale shows it along with the lack of water. I lost 10 pounds last week but con't see myself repeating that anytime soon.

I did a mock weigh in this am and was at 295, what the hell! Then I remembered my lack of water and the 2 hot-dogs I had last night, that'll do it. It only did 20 min cardio this am, probably because the 45min last night kicked me good and hard.
Its almost 12noon and I have to do 20 more min and go down to a cable workout. I have a weigh in tomorrow, hell, all weekend! Sat , Suin and Mon. I've got a meal plan, I just have to work it better.

I got up at 5:30a only to be welcomed by a slight headache, when I'm greeted with those I take a v and go back to bed. The cause was being up to late which I figured, watched the biggest loser. Upon getting up again around 8:30a I filled up 8 bottles of water, basically how much I need to drink throughout the day to ensure I get my proper amount of water.

Well, got up early took the wife to work, its 7:30 and I'm gonna hop on the cardio wagon here shortly.
I've got my comps up and running, now its just maintenance, that and an email here and there. I'm finding out that when I lack on water and don't do my cardio, the scale reminds me very quickly. I can fix the problem easily, it just winds up costing me valuable time. The prize money for the summer is in the ranges of 3-5 thousand... I love to win a chunk but so would alot of other people. Time will tell, Gonna hit the oatmeal and see how much I can lose today.............hopefully more later.
Was going to do a noon workout and cardio but other things intervened.
Had a huge bowl of popcorn and went exploring on the bike. I found under performance workouts 1 for 45min. I tryed it at 10 resistance, kicked my ass but I made it through it! I'm going to incorporate some boxing on the WII tomorrow for some upper body stimulation, I'm also gonna incorporate the straps on the door but I need some variation. I'm feeling a little crumby, so I'm gonna hit the sack. I'm hoping to be in the 280's come morning. If I can pull 3-5 pounds a week, I'll be satisfied, if I can pull more-great, we'll just see what happens.

January 17 Monday
Its been a few days. I've been busy with next to nothing, answering emails, checking paypal and what-not. My 2 comps are finally off the ground, now all I have to do is monitor them. I've noticed I get edgy once in a while thinking of the moula that I've got invested in this. Usually once I'm the bike and 6-7 minutes into a 30 minute run and I'm getting warmed up, my mileage count is exceeding my set goal, I start to feel better. Right now the weight is again dropping off. I have ideas of grandeur that I'm gonna do 3-4 hours a day of cardio and I'm gonna lose huge amounts of weigh, but' my body and inner being can take just so much torture.
I have begun to reveal in my comps about my recovering from waking up paralyzed. Its becoming a topic here and there. I guess if I really wanted the 'attention' I could put it in bold-face caps on my profile page. I'm past that point. I just like the part where I'm getting stronger and getting bigger weight losses. Today is the first weigh in for jalal's comp, I'll see where I stand on the field of more than 100+ people. I read alot about diets and drugs and emotional eating, I know it all exists, I'm glad that I don't have that dilemma. Last year about this time when I started lifting weight again just to maintain my weight, didn't know what I was gonna do. I tripped over a sight with meal plans from a couple of professionals, they were outrageous to say the least, but I was able to follow one that drastically reduced my calories and in all essence , 'cleaned' me out. Well, I've had my oatmeal, coffee is coming up and need to get at least 90 min of cardio in. I have alot of work to do and this has become my full-time job until the summer, its gonna have a hell of a paycheck.........
Just did 30 on the bike and the nervousness of a crumby weigh in is all but gone. I know I get cabin fever and such, its natural. I've been looking for alternate ways of exercise, something to keep it fresh. I'm probably going to do some resistance work today but not quite sure what yet. Need to get on the treadmill and burn out my 60 before I totally cool off, I notice these Hawaiian punch packets are giving me heartburn, even my favorites. More later...........

Woke this morning at 5:30a kinda gettin to be like clock-work. I awoke soaked with sweat again and a slight headache. 8p at night.
Going back over the day,
1 serving oatmeal then 30 min/9.06/#4/10 resis
down stairs, cooked wife breakfast 3 eggs scrambled and 2 toast.
I had also 3 eggs scrambled.
I worked on weightloss wars most of morning on the challenge pages and cleaning up my profile, getting rid of the dead weight(non active friends).
I did 20 cardio/6.13/#1/10 resis, I had a bowl of popcorn and then did an arm workout
bicep curls 15, 30, 60x20
Triceps
push downs 15, 30, 60x20
reverse grip pull downs 15, 30, 60x20
overhead extensions 15, 30, 60z20.
I could feel the burn, did the exercises, but was cold from being on the computer.
Need to get a rythm going on daily workouts.
Dinner so far has been a chicken breast and hopefully a protein shake.

Updates on my dad
Well here it is, last week he was in critical care at Oakwood in Dearborn for all you locals in Michigan.
He had triple bypass, and spent 2 weeks doped up and going through detox.
He is now in a nursing home and slated for rehab. I went up there yesterday, spent about 2 1/2 hours, he likes his chocolate, reese's and chocolate chip cookies. I'm gonna take up some gingerale or vernors, trying to get him away from sugary pop, I know those to have sugar in them also. His choices at the nursing home aren't that many.
His color is really good and he's alot more alert.
I'm not going up there to see him today, have to concentrate on doing my cardio and work-outs. 1/11/11

I just did 20 on the bike and I'm feeling bogged down to say the least. I'm going to try and keep some accurate logs of my food and exercise. Maybee I'll find out what really makes me tick.
Need to get the treadmill out of the way and do my weigh in......I got on the treadmill and did 30, need to shake things up more, getting bored with the routine.
checked out the gym, I can do a leg workout for $5 per day, which if once aweek comes out to $20 a month or just go back to the opther gym for $30 which is 24 hour access. I want to hit the gym but not tear up my joints if I get carried away.

Was up early this morning working on comps.
Actually woke up soaked with sweat about 4:30a so stayed up. More later, need to get cardio done.
Got in 30 min of cardio, wasn't in it this morning, did a weigh in for my comp, did lose 2 pounds. Doing more cardio and a workout at noon. Not everyday will be perfect..........
Took wife to work , she got a sausage buscuit and sweet tea while I got #1 sausage, egg and cheese mcmuffin and a hashbrown. Considering my lack of calories, wasn't bad. working on a method of making this at home, I know its easy, just need to do it
Need to do some afternoon cardio then its lunch and then gonna see my dad in Applewood nursing home later on. More later

Considering attempting to use the journal on WLW can get hectic once in a while, I'll journal here. beats trying to hit 2 profiles!
Morning was 3 coffee's
B-fast-20 bike, 45 treadmill
Sausage, egg and cheese buscuit, hashbrown(water at home).
Lunch- large bowl popcorn and maruchin noodles
30 cardio 30 workout on back
Dinner-tbd. Dinner was 2 whole milks and large salad. Right shoulder in alot of pain. Considering Mary Jane tomorrow or Monday.

My Final phase actually!
Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Matthew Nelson Whelan, I was born on January 7, 1966. I'm a professional in many area's. I'm a certified auto mechanic, although retired from that line of work. I was a professional truck driver, and currently have held the title of nurse-aide in the state of Ohio. I was on the virge of becoming a nurse-aide in Mich until I came ill in August of 09 from various afflictions.

I have 2 comps startin on Saturday (January 8th) for weight loss on http://www.weightlosswars.com/. I also have 2 profiles there, IRONMAN and the most recent WOLVERINE. Both are superhero's and help people. I found myself wanting to stand out in the crowd. Being loud and obnoxious seems to do that quite well.
Fast forward to the present, momentarily.
I have 2 comps startin on Saturday (January 8th) for weight loss on http://www.weightlosswars.com/. I also have 2 profiles there, IRONMAN and the most recent WOLVERINE. This all seemingly started on Aug 22nd 2009. I started my weightloss journey by going to the gym for small amouts of cardio in the am and at noon and 6pm. I hated cardio then, I was in seemingly alot of pain, if I only knew the extent!
I was doing good, cardio in the am and doing small meals.
Rather than keep just do cardio, I loved to lift heavy, the muscle look. Well this day was the first of the rest of my life in pain. I was doing chest execises, and was sticking with low weight, high rep, wanted to burn the fat. Was working good to. This certain day I was doing chest, no problem, didn't feel anything. Went back to the apartment, my right shoulder felt a twinge, didn't really think anything of it. I went to my parents house, mmm, my right shoulder seemingly in an hours time although I hadn't moved it alot started to swell up. I was at my mothers house and it hurt just to move it. She rubbed an ointment ment on it that was reminiscent of Ben-Gay, worked without the strong smell. Anywho, it didn't phase it at all! I wound up going home and thinking, I better go to the hospital, so I did. The hospital where I lve has a bad rep for being a high priced taco stand! If you've seen "Royal Pains" on t.v., that bout covers it. I went there, had a x-ray done and was told slight tear in rotary cuff, was prescribed anti-inflammatory and 750 Vicodens! Yes, going from aspirin to Vicoden, what a trip! I will continue this tomorrow so I don't forget today..
I'm going to create a boarder here, will continue this blog of my experience each day. No way can I put it all here in one day, so this will be an onging blog paused 1-8-11 resume tomorrow.....
